This mole hill of a mountain...!

This is not a song, but a bit of a song. Tori's "Barons of Suburbia", to be precise.

So we thought we'd be active and all outdoorsy this weekend. New boots and all. And the East Lomond is not a particularly hard walk. Steep, yes. But short. Two hours at the most.

Well, let me tell you -- with new boots to be broken in (that was the plan, at least) and a blister the size of Luxembourg on your heel, high winds and the darkest, thickest cloud ever rolling in on you (honestly, that was Sauron on a cruise over Fife), you abandon even the shortest climb in favour of a hot chocolate.

But we had a coffee.

Ashes to Ashes....

Well. Thank God we sold my parents' house last summer.

Now it's burned down.

Still, it feels funny....

Kitchen Wisdom

I found a fail-safe way to open a bottle of white wine.

Put it in the freezer and forget it there. When it freezes solid and the liquid expands, it pushes out the cork neatly. My flatmate's husband looked a bit puzzled when he found it tonight... Well, you can't drink it, because it's a block of ice, but the cork was out. And the freezer smells (n)ice.

Sorbet, anyone?

Your Origin matters... sometimes.

My pack of Tesco Finest Handcooked Crisps proudly informes me that they are
made with selected British & Irish potatoes

Does any one ever wonder where the seemingly almost equally important
pure sunflower oil

was grown....?
